The given circuit is symmetrical about line ED.

We can see that due to symmetry, whatever charge is flowing through branch AE will enter branch EB.

Similarly, charge going into branch AD will enter branch DB.

No charge will enter branch ED or potential of point E & D are equal.

This neglecting the capacitors in ED branch.


In each branch, the set of two capacitors are in series.

Ceq=C×CC+C=C2


Now the net capacitance of the circuit between A & B:

Cnet=C2+C2+C2=3C2

Hence, option (b) is correct.
