Find the least natural number which leaves the remainders 6 and 8 when divided by 7 and 9 respectively.

Open in App
Solution

7 × 9 = 63

Here, 63 − 1 = 7 × 9 − 1 = 7 (8 + 1) − 1 = 7 × 8 + 7 − 1 = 7 × 8 + 6

63 − 1 = 7 × 9 − 1 = 9 × (6 + 1) − 1 = 9 × 6 + 9 − 1 = 9 × 6 + 8

Hence, the least natural numbers is 62.
