Question

Find the number of photons of radiation of frequency 5×1013s1 that must be absorbed in order to melt one gm ice when the latent heat of fusion of ice is 330J.(h=6.6×1034J×sec.)

Open in App
Solution

Energy =nhν
where, n= number of photons
h= Plank's constant =6.6×1034 Jsec
ν= Frequency
330=n×6.6×1034×5×1013
n=3306.6×1034×5×1013
n=1×1022 photons
Therefore the number of photons is 1022
