Question

Find the number of waves made by a Bohr electron in one complete revolution in the 3rd orbit.

Open in App
Solution

Velocity of the electron in 3rd orbit=3h2πmr
where, m= mass of electron and r= radius of 3rd orbit.
Applying de Broglie equation,
λ=hmv=hm×2πmr3h=2πr3
Number of waves=2πrλ=2πr2πr×3=3
