Find the perimeter of the figure given:

We know that perimeter is the sum of all sides
Perimeter of the given figure $= A B + B C + C D + D A$
$= (5 x - y) + 2 (x + y) + (5 x - y) + 2 (x + y)$
$= 5 x - y + 2 x + 2 y + 5 x - y + 2 x + 2 y$
On combining the like terms
$= 5 x + 2 x + 5 x + 2 x - y + 2 y - y + 2 y = 14 x + 2 y$
