Given equation is $x^{2} - 5 x + 4 = 0$

For the standard form of quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0, roots are $\frac{- b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4 a c}}{2 a}$ .

Here, $a = 1, b = - 5, c = 4$

$∴$ Roots of the quadratic equation $x^{2} - 5 x + 4 = 0$ are:

$x = \frac{5 \pm \sqrt{25 - 16}}{2} = \frac{(5 \pm 3)}{2} = 4, 1$
