Question

Find the sum of the following vectors:
a=^i2^j,b=2^i3^j,c=2^i+3^k

Open in App
Solution

Add the vectors a=^i2^j, b=2^i3^j and c=2^i+3^k by writing them in the component form that is

a=1,2,0, b=2,3,0 and c=2,0,3

Then the sum of the vectors can be computed as follows:

a+b+c=1+2+2,23+0,0+0+3

=5,5,3

Hence the sum of the vectors is 5,5,3=5^i5^j+3^k.
