Question

Find the value of (-15)-(-18)

Open in App
Solution

Let's find the value of (-15)-(-18):

To subtract an integer b from another integer a, we add the additive inverse of b to a. So, a-b=a+(-b).

We have, (-15)-(-18).

=(-15)+18 ( the additive inverse of -18 is 18)

=3 ( to add a negative and a positive integer, we subtract the absolute values of both integers and put the sign of the number with greater absolute value to the result)

Hence, (-15)-(-18)=3.
