Since, we know a number can we written by multiplying the digits with place value:
So,
$A 9 = 10 \times A + 9 = 10 A + 9$
and $1 A = 1 \times 10 + A = 10 + A$
Now,
$107 - (10 A + 9) = 10 + A$
$\Rightarrow 107 - 10 A - 9 = 10 + A$
$\Rightarrow 107 - 9 - 10 = A + 10 A$
$\Rightarrow 11 A = 88$
$\Rightarrow A = 8$
