Question

Find the value of k for which the system of equations kxy=2 and 6x2y=3 has no solution.

Open in App
Solution

Let kxy=2 ....(1)
and kx2=y .....(2)

Substituting the value of y in (1) from (2), we get
6x2(kx2)=3
6x2kx4=3
x(62k)=7

For no solution, we know
62k=0
6=2k
k=3
