(a) In right angle $\Delta LMN$

using pythagores theorem

$(LM{)}^2+(MN{)}^2=(LN{)}^2$

$(7{)}^2+(24{)}^2=x^2$

$x^2=49+576$

$x^2=625$

$x^2=\sqrt{625}=25$

(b) In right angle $\Delta PQR$

using pythagores theorem

$(PR{)}^2=(PQ{)}^2+(QR{)}^2$

$(41{)}^2+x^2+(9{)}^2$

$1681=x^2+81$

$x^2=625$

$1681-81=x^2$

$x^2=1681-81=1600$

$x=\sqrt{1600}=40$
