Solution

Let Jacobs age be x and his son’s age be y

x+ 5 = 3 y + 15 (1)

x-5 = 7 y – 35 (2) [1 Mark]

On Equation (2)–(1),

4 y = 40

y = 10

x = 40 [1 Mark]
