Let the cost of an adult ticket be $=$ Rs. $x$

$\therefore$ Cost of child's ticket $=Rs.\frac{x}{3}$

By the given condition,

$4\times x+5\times \frac{x}{3}=85$

$\Rightarrow \frac{12x+5x}{3}=85$

$\Rightarrow 17x=85\times 3$

$\Rightarrow 17x=255$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{255}{17}$

$\Rightarrow x=15$

Hence, the cost of a child's ticket is :

$=\frac{x}{3}$

$=\frac{15}{3}$

$=Rs.5$.
