  1. During the extraction process of Aluminum, Sodium hydroxide is added to remove the impurities present in the ore of Aluminum.
  2. In this way, Aluminum oxide gets dissolved to Sodium aluminate.
  3. The reaction is,
  4. Al2O3(s)Aluminumoxide+NaOH(l)Sodiumhydroxide2NaAlO2(s)Sodiumaluminate+H2(g)Hydrogen
  5. So for removing the impurities Sodium hydroxide is added.
