Casein is a milk protein which is mainly present in the milk. It occupies 80% of the protein in cow's milk. Casein is digested in the stomach by a milk coagulating enzyme known as renin. It is present in the stomach in form of prorenin which gets activated by HCl into renin. Renin converts the casein into paracasein which inturns binds with calcium ions and form calcium paracaseinate which is further digested by pepsin.
