For the reaction,
CaO+2HClCaCl2+H2O
1.23 g of CaO is reacted with excess of hydrochloric acid and of CaCl2 is formed. What is the per cent yield?

The balanced equation is:
CaO1mol56g+2HClCaCl21mol111g+H2O
56 g of CaO produce CaCl2=111g
1.23 g of CaO produce CaCl2=11156×1.23.=2.43g
Thus, Theoretical yield = 2.43 g
Actual yield =1.85 g
Per cent yield =1.852.43×100=76.1
