The fatty acids have a long aliphatic carbon chain attached to carboxylic group.
In general the fatty acids have formula
(R)n-COOH
​The unsaturated fatty acids will have a double bond or triple bond in the aliphatic chain.
Unsaturated fatty acids can be Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). Or poly unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA).
The general formula of unsaturated fatty acids is (R)n-CH2=CH2-(R)n'-COOH
