We know that even numbers are multiple of and the difference between two concesutive even numbers is 2.

So, the numbers be 2n and 2n + 2

Sum of two consecutive numbers =
2n + 2n + 2
= 4n + 2

Case 2: Let the number be 2n and 2n - 2.

Sum of two consecutive numbers =
2n + 2n - 2
= 4n - 2
