Reason for storing sodium and potassium in kerosene:-

  1. Sodium and potassium both are highly reactive elements.
  2. They can even react with the moisture present in the air if came in contact with it, and that too vigorously.
  3. Hence due to this factor, both potassium and sodium are stored in kerosene.
  4. Also, this kerosene protects the metals from coming in contact with moisture.

Therefore, due to the high reactivity of potassium and sodium, they both are stored in kerosene.
