Some substances like pollen grains, dust particles etc., present in the environment increase the response of the immune system. This immune response is called allergy or hypersensitivity and the agents which cause such an immune response are called allergens.

These allergens produce antibodies.

Some common symptoms of the allergic reactions are: watery eyes, itching, running nose, sneezing etc.

To reduce the symptoms of allergy antihistamines are used.
