  1. Weeds are undesirable plants that tend to grow with the main crops on agricultural land.
  2. They usually feed on the nutrients provided to the crop and thus they result in decreased supply of nutrients to the crop and hinder their growth.
  3. The growth of these undesirable plants needs to be checked so that they do not come between the growth of the crop.
  4. To control the growth of these weeds there are various weedicides; these are chemicals that are spread in the agriculture field so that the weeds die and they do not harm the crops.
  5. Tilling these weeds before sowing the crop helps in controlling their growth. They can also be removed manually with the help of showel.
  6. Amaranthus is an example of a weed.
