Solution

1. Displacement Reaction

A displacement reaction is defined as a reaction that comprises the replacement of one element from a reactant with an element of another reactant. It is also known as a replacement reaction.

2. Example of displacement reaction

The reaction in which a nonmetal displaces another nonmetal is given as:

Cl2(aq)+2NaBr(aq)2NaCl(aq)+Br2(aq)ChlorineSodiumSodiumBrominebromidechloride

Here, Chlorine and Bromine are non-metals. Chlorine is comparatively more reactive than Bromine. Hence, Chlorine displaces the non-metal (bromine) from the compound Sodium bromide. Thus, it is a type of displacement reaction where a nonmetal displaces another nonmetal.
