Characteristics of parenchyma tissues -
They are permanent living tissue having the ability to divide after maturation.
The parenchyma of stems and roots stores food, nutrients and water.
They are totipotent in nature where a single parenchyma cell of a zygote can develop into an entire plant.
Parenchyma serves as a packing tissue to fill the spaces between tissues in order to maintain the shape and rigidity of plants, it has a large vacuole at the center of the cell.
