Surgical methods of contraception:
Surgical methods of contraception involve the surgical removal of a part of an organ of the reproductive tract to prevent fertilization.
Surgical methods can be performed in males and females.
Vasectomy is the procedure performed in males in which the vas deferens are cut and tied off to prevent the transport of sperms to the urethra.
Tubectomy is performed in females. In this method, a small portion of the fallopian tubes in a female is removed and cut ends are tied with a nylon thread. This prevents the transfer of eggs into the uterus.
