Solution
Auricles and Ventricles:
The human heart has four chambers namely:
Left auricle
Right auricle
Left ventricle
Right ventricle
The auricles are called the receiving chambers as they receive blood.
The ventricles are called the pumping chambers as they pump blood away from the heart.
They each perform different functions such as carrying oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from the heart to the tissues and from the tissues to the heart.
Walls of auricles and ventricles:
The auricles are thin-walled and are smaller chambers.
The ventricles are thick-walled and are larger chambers.
The wall of the ventricles is thicker than the auricles because they pump the blood with high pressure to farther distances.
Also, the pressure of blood that flows through the ventricles is higher than the auricles.
