(1) (a) The region is an important base for economic development.
(b) It is also very important for many historical, political, economic and sociological analysis.
(c) It is very useful and essential in the planning process.
(d) It helps the planners to decide developmental strategies.
(2) Most of the Himalayan rivers are perennial in nature because :
(i) During monsoon season the Himalayan rivers are fed by rains.
(ii) During summer season these rivers receive water from the melting snow.
(iii) So, throughout the year, water sources remain available in the Himalayan region for providing water to the various rivers.
(3) Rajasthan desert is the most populated desert in world because:
(i) About 38% of the total population of Rajasthan State lives in the desert.
(ii) In the past years, there has been an increase in human population.(iii) The population density in the Rajasthan desert is 83 persons per sq. km- because Rajasthan desert is a transition zone between densely populated basins of Ganga on the east and Indus on the west Side.
(4) (a) Much of this plateau spreads in Jharkhand and extends into the adjoining states like West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
(b) It is one of the mineral rich regions of our country.
(c) Granite gneiss is found in large, tracts in the central part of this region.The rocks of Gondwana formation bearing high grade coal seams have made Chota Nagpur a mineral-rich region.
