Question

Give one example each of central force and non-central force.

Open in App
Solution

Central force is the force that is radially pointing, and the magnitude is dependent on the distance from the source.
e.g: gravitational force of a point mass, electrostatic force due to a point charge.

Non-central force is a force between two particles that is not directed along the line connecting them.
e.g: spin-dependent nuclear forces, magnetic force between two current carrying loops.
