Osmosis
Osmotic pressure is a significant factor that affects cells. Osmosis is the net migration of solvent molecules through a semipermeable barrier into a region with a higher solute concentration. The purpose of osmosis is to bring the concentrations of solutes on both sides back into balance.
Osmosis is the process through which plant roots extract water from the soil. Active transport is used by plants to concentrate solutes in their root cells, whereas osmosis allows water to reach the roots.
The mobility of guard cells is likewise controlled by osmosis.
