Green plant plays an important role in food chain.

Plants constitute the first/base level in any food chain because they are producers and they are responsible for synthesising the food through photosynthesis by using the sunlight so they occupy the first trophic or base level in any food chain. The food prepared by the plants is then passed to successive trophic levels. Hence they act as initiators of any food chain and are important.
