Question

Give reason for the following:

Urine is slightly thicker in summer than in winter.

Solution

  1. In summers, a considerable amount of water is lost through perspiration (sweating).
  2. To compensate this water loss, the nephrons present in the kidneys reabsorb more water and throw off more concentrated urine to maintain a water balance in the body.
  3. This makes urine thicker in summer than in winter.
