Solution

Heredity is the inheritance of the traits from one generation to the next generation. The variations may be introduced through mutations or through genetic recombination. Genetic recombination occurs during sexual reproduction which brings in variations in the offsprings. The variations are responsible for the better capability of the organism to survive. So, the hereditary transfer of variations is necessary.
