People exposed to air pollutants are susceptible to respiratory disorders.

Respiratory disorders:

  1. Disorders or abnormalities related to the organs of the respiratory system are collectively known as respiratory disorders.
  2. These can be either caused due to pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungus, etc) or mostly polluted air.

Reasons:

  1. When polluted air enters our respiratory passage, our immune system responds against the pollutants.
  2. Polluted air can cause acute (for a very short period) and chronic (for a very long period or for a lifetime) respiratory diseases.
  3. The main symptoms of disease caused due to polluted air are prolonged inflammation, swelling of tract wall, respiratory airways becoming narrowed, excess mucus secretion, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, etc.
