Insectivorous plants get nutrition by digesting insects.

Insectivorous plants:

  1. The plants that depend on insects for their nutrients are called insectivorous plants.
  2. Insectivorous plants generally grow in the nutrient deficient soil (mainly nitrogen deficient) and hence it requires a different source for its nutrients.
  3. Leaves are modified to form traps which can trap the insect as it approaches the plant.
  4. The plant gains the required nutrients by digesting the trapped insects.
  5. Examples: pitcher plant, Venus flytrap, bladderwort.
