Solution

Blood transfusion:

  1. Blood transfusion is a medical procedure in which the blood from the donor is added or transferred to the recipient.
  2. Before this process, the blood group of both donor and recipient is checked because the donated blood should be compatible with the blood of the recipient.
  3. Otherwise, after transfusion, the immune system of the patient or recipient will fight against the donated blood and can cause serious or even life-threatening transfusion reactions.
  4. Thus, to avoid blood transfusion reactions the blood group of the recipient and donor are matched before transfusion
