Solution
Wind pollination:
Wind pollination has a certain requirement, i.e. pollen grains must be light in weight , small, dry and non-sticky.
All thse characteristics enables the pollens to be transported by the wind currents.
As the wind pollination is dependent upon the wind currents and the direction in which wind flows, there are chances that the pollens might not reach the correct flower if the wind is too fast and in the wrong direction.
Having large quantities of pollens assures that some of them would reach the right flowers for the pollens to germinate and thereafter allow fertilisation.
