It should have the following characteristics:
1. It should be colorless, transparent and odorless.
2. It should be free from disease causing germs.
3. It should be free from impurities.
4. It should contain small amount of essential minerals and salts of magnesium, calcium and sodium which are necessary for the growth and development of our body.
