Hydrogen resembles alkali metals because of following reasons
(1) Electronic configuration like alkali metals hydrogen also contains one electron in its outermost shell.
(2) Electropositive configuration: Tt can lose one electron to form H+ion like alkali metals.
(3) Liberation at carthode when an aqueous solution of HCl is electrolysed, H2 is liberated at cathode in the same way as alkali metals are liberated at cathode during the electrolysis of their fused halide.
(4) Oxidation state: It shows +1 oxidation state like alkali metals.
(5) Reducing character: Hydrogen is a strong reducing agent like other alkali metals.
CuO+H2→Cu+H2O
