Viruses:

  1. A virus can be defined as a microorganism that consists of a nucleic acid segment enclosed in a protein coat.
  2. The virus doesn't have the capability to replicate itself alone.
  3. It only replicates within an organism's live cells.
  4. All living entities are infected by viruses.
  5. It may be plants, animals, humans, bacteria, etc.

Reasons why viruses are non-living:

  1. Viruses are not made up of cells, and therefore are unable to maintain a stable condition, develop, or generate their own energy.
  2. Viruses don't utilize any energy outside of their host cells.
  3. When they come into contact with a host cell, they become active.
  4. They employ the host cell's energy and equipment to generate additional viruses once they've been triggered.
  5. They are considered nonliving because they do not generate their own energy.
