1. Amniocentesis is a process in which amniotic fluid from the womb is sampled, to check for abnormalities in the developing fetus.
2. The tissue remnants are sometimes misused to check the sex of the fetus and in some countries, the child with undesirable sex is aborted.
3. Amniocentesis can be used to detect the sex of the fetus, a female fetus is selectively aborted.
