A compound formed by removing water are more complex compound. An oxide of a non-metal named acid anhydride or a metal, baric anhydride, that forms an acid or a base respectively, when united with water, a compound from which water has been abstracted.
Example ; Inorganic anhydrides are sulphur trioxide (SO3)
