Solution

Lenticels are present on the older stem of plants. The lenticel is a portion of the periderm which is developed through the activity of the phellogen. These are lens-shaped openings in the trunk of woody trees. In woody trees, the exchange of gases between the outer atmosphere and the internal tissue of the stem takes place through lenticels.
