It is an endocrine gland which secrete hormones directly into the blood stream.
It is situated on the either sides of the trachea or the wind pipe at the lower side of the larynx.
It secrete two hormones thyroxin and calcitonin.
It regulates the metabolism of body, growth of body and development of body.
It has two lobes right lobe and left lobe and these lobes are joined by isthmus.
