Solution

FSH stands for the follicular stimulating hormone. As the name suggests, FSH plays an important role in the generation of the follicles.
The process of the gametogenesis is stimulated by the FSH or follicular stimulating hormone, as a result of this process many gametes are formed.
In males, it is responsible for the spermatogenesis.
In female FSH plays a completely different but important role in the reproductive cycle.
Anterior pituitary secretes follicle stimulating hormone which controls the transformation of young primary follicle into Graafian follicle, maturation of ovum and secretion of oestrogen by the follicular cell.
The increase in the level of oestrogen and progesterone stick stops the secretion of the FSH in females.
