1. This is a basic method of preparation to obtain alkyl alcohol. In this process, alkyl halide gets converted into alcohol in the presence of aqueous $\mathrm{KOH}/\mathrm{NaOH}$.
2. Here, $\mathrm{KOH}$ is a dehydrohalogenating agent.
3. When Ethyl chloride is boiled with aqueous potassium hydroxide then ethyl alcohol is produced.
