Brain:

  1. The main coordinating center of the body is the brain which is the part of the central nervous system.
  2. The brain is divided into three parts - forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain.
  3. The largest and main thinking part of the brain is the forebrain, which consists of the cerebrum, olfactory lobes, and diencephalon.
  4. The midbrain is the small part of the brain which connects the hindbrain with the forebrain and is responsible for motor function, and auditory and visual responses.
  5. The hindbrain is associated with muscular activities, involuntary actions, and coordination of both sides of the body.

Cerebrum:

  1. The cerebrum is located in the forebrain and divided into two parts called cerebral hemispheres, separated by a longitudinal cerebral fissure.
  2. This is the largest part of the forebrain and consists of sensory areas to receive impulses from the sense organs.
  3. It serves as a center of intelligence and memory.
  4. It controls movements, taste, smell, sight, and other sensations.
