Give two differences between Schottky and Frenkel defects in ionic solids.

Solution
Schottky Defect:
1. It occurs when oppositely charged atoms leave their corresponding lattice sites and create a pair of vacancy defect.
2. Size of the anion is almost the same as the size of the colour.
Frenkel Defect:
1. It is one type of point defect where an ion, especially cation leaves it's original lattice site and occupies an interstitial position at the same crystal.
2. Size of the anion is substantially large than the size of a cation.
