Solution

Soluble salt:

  • A soluble salt can be prepared by a direct combination of two elements (a metal and the other non-metal) or the action of an acid on an insoluble base.
  • For example: Ferric chloride (FeCl3) and Copper chloride (CuCl2).

Insoluble salt:

  • An insoluble salt can either be formed by a direct combination of two elements (a metal and the other non-metal) or precipitation (double decomposition)
  • For example: Lead sulfate (PbSO4) and Calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
