Sulphuric acid occurs in two states in nature:
1. In the free state, it is found in mineral springs, where it is formed by the action of water on certain sulphides.
2. In the combined state, it is found in the form of metallic sulphates such as gypsum CaSO4.2H2O, barytes BaSO4, kieserite MgSO4.2H2O.
