Open in App
Solution

Displacement reaction:

  • It is a chemical reaction in which an element replaces another element in a compound and takes its place.
  • Cu(s)copper+2AgNO3(aq)silvernitrateCu(NO3)2(aq)coppernitrate+2Ag(s)silver
  • Copper(Cu) is more reactive than silver(Ag), hence it displaces silver from compound silver nitrate(AgNO3).
  • The above reaction is also called a single displacement reaction as only one element displaces another element from its compound.
