RBC’s along with other blood cells are all derived from a common precursor stem cell called haemocytoblast. RBCs derive their energy or ATP by the process of glycolysis. Electron transport chain occurs in the mitochondria which is lacking in the RBCs. RBCs have two concave sides due to the removal of nucleus,hence they are biconcave shaped.
